about boshi

boshi essential care was born after years of treating new mothers in the clinic for a range of conditions that could have been easily prevented. For the many new families that I have treated from conception through to managing their children's health, this is an essential time in their life and sets patterns of response that continue over the years. It is a time that deserves just as much attention as conception, pregnancy and the birth itself.

For all women the first 6-8 weeks after giving birth are vitally important and the attention placed on restoration during this time has a long lasting impact on your health. The body has been through an immense experience from conception to delivery of a baby and this period needs to be prioritized as a time of necessary healing. It is essential that the new mother receives sufficient nourishment and rest to support recovery and rejuvenation of the body, mind and soul during this time.

From an Oriental medicine perspective, it is understood that there is an immense deficiency of both energy and blood in many different organs following birth which gives rise to symptoms of fatigue, poor appetite, bowel disturbances, weak limbs, anxiety, poor concentration, anaemia, bleeding, water retention, light headedness, digestive weakness in short, most if not all of the symptoms that occur after childbirth. There are very simple ways that this energy can be restored and the symptoms alleviated.

All traditional cultures have their own method of post natal healing, which essentially ensures that the mother is supported physically and emotionally through her adjustment and recovery process for up to 44 days after the birth. Our Western culture has no clearly defined regime for post natal physical recovery and the incidence of post natal depression is increasing. Our modern world places great emphasis on the mother attempting to be a post natal ‘superwoman’. Not only is this unrealistic but attempts are harmful and damaging to the health of the woman.

It is evident through clinical practice that post birth complications can manifest and continue to contribute to poor health through to menopause. I have treated many women that have suffered enormously for what could have been relatively easy to treat. All prevention needs is a little extra time and the right kind of care.

Your whole family will benefit from boshi essential care, how can that not be worth it?

I look forward to welcoming you to our boshi family.
